Ok. Thought I would pick your brains if I may. The '67 currently has these wheels. They're nice, but have the GT center on them and it is obviously not a GT. I would like to have something more appropriate for the car. I have seen the plain centers that I believe could replace the GT center, but was this style found on '67s? Would also rather go with something more original looking than some new styled wheels. What do you think would look good if these were changed? Open to any suggestions. :)

Can you post a picture of the car?
If your looking to stay period correct (looking), I always liked the styled steel wheels (16" aftermarkets would be my preference).

Do you know of a local supplier? I see plenty online to give me an idea.
Do some of the styled steel wheels require beauty rings, while others don't?

I think the '65 styled steel wheels had the trim ring and the '66-'67 had the polished rims. If this is not correct, I'm sure someone will chime in.
I had the styled steel rims with the trim rings and if I hit a bad pot hole I would lose the trim ring - I think I would get the polished rims.
I know a couple of wheel companies are making the styled steel wheels in 16" and 17" sizes, but I couldn't find them with a quick search. I'll hunt around and post again later.

Tim, you knew it was coming. You got it backwards. The '65 wheels had chrome rims and '66 and '67 had black painted rims with trim rings. The '67s also have a slightly different center cap. The styled steel wheels are offered in a number of widths and diameters now, so it is up to you which to use. I have a set of stock size '67 styled wheels on my '66 because 15 years ago that was the only way to get a wider wheel for my '66. The '66 center caps fit the '67 wheels so it's very difficult to tell they aren't "concours correct".

Gee Tee - OK, so I must have had '66 rims on my '65 when I bought it. I knew someone would clarify - Thanks
halehouse - Check with Virginia Classic Mustang, they carry all years and have the new larger sizes.

Thanks. That is what we had figured out when looking at various sources online and at catalogs here at home. We'll probably swap out the GT wheels that are currently on it. I thought maybe there was a place local to buy them, but could have them shipped.

Actually, the catalog I have here at home is from VCM. Thanks.

Virginia Classic Mustang is as good as local. Items I order from them arrive the next day, and items that would normally require truck shipment can be picked up at the store, which is only a little over an hour from you. Choose the right roads and it can be a nice drive too.

I have always thought the 67/68 styled steel rims were some of the nicest ever put on a mustang. I guess the 65/66 as well, they are very similar. I have the 69 SS rims that are similar to the incorrect ones on your car presently, and they are okay, but, not as nice as what was offered originally on your car in 67. I would put the original type 67 SS rims back on it. I had a Raven Black 67 GT that had these wheels and they were beautiful, especially with the ocean blue background center caps.

That's the plan. Replace with the '67 ss wheels and black '67 caps and just remount the current tires. I'll post pics of the change.
