Hey Guys,
As it implies, I had the mustang dynoed today, my "seat-o-meter" told me something good was happening, and the dyno verified it
My Facts:
333 cu.in started life as a 5 bolt 289 w/Woody rotating assembly bored .040 over.
"ProSytems" HP/DP/XE series 680 CFM w/mech. secondaries 70/70 jets setting on a Performer RPM
Heads/springs/ & billet cam/rockers provided by "Jay"
TFS/TW heads 2.02/160 w/Comp Gold Rockers/Link Bars lifters/10.5 comp.
Tri-Ys into 2.5" with "cross-over"
T5z "2.95", "1.94", "1.34', "1.00" ".063" w/kevlar-organic clutch
3:55 8" rear
Custom curved OEM dizzy w/pertronix 23 deg. mech. & 16 deg. intial NO PING'G
Jacobs ignition box and coil
In case you can't read the sheet: Max HP 392 @ 6100 Max TQ 400 @ 4200
The AFR went a little fat, initially (11.8-9), and ended slightly lean, at just under 14.0

Numbers and graph look great!!
Did they stop the pull at 6100 when the AFR went a little lean? Your HP curve is still heading up, I think there is more there to be had. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge in line with the fuel feed line on the carb? It really helps to see if the fuel pressure is starting to drop along with the AFR. You might be able to pull a little more with a little bigger fuel pump.

Hi Tim,
You make some good points.
Yes, I do have a gauge, but, for obvious safety reasons, you can't be leaning over the engine with it on the chassis dyno and it screaming like a banchee from hell.
I gave the operator a top end limit of 6000 to 6500 RPMs, even though the heads were setup for 7K max. Also, this was to merely baseline the addition of the heads, cam, carb, and timing. So, like you, there is probably a little more there. I sent a copy to Patrick (ProSystems) for his review, his reply was " some chassis dyos tend to make these Hi emulsion program carbs, like yours, lean out as they get pulled in on the dyno". He went on to suggest this doesn't happen in the real world. He went on to say, I should setup my LM1, and do a road check at cruise and WOT! Additionally, rather than jumping on the jets, I should reduce the high speed air bleeds in .008 increments. But, not before the LM1 test.
I agree the road test will be my next event.
The dyno shop owner suggested I keep my foot our of it on any regular basis as the torque is approaching a point, at which, the block will and can split. When I built this short block in '06, I never intended it to make this kind of power, although I blueprinted it, I do not have any "forged" rotating parts or stud girdles. Perhaps, at the very least, the girdle may help.
So, although the potential may be there, discovering it may prove "hazardous to my wallet", know what I mean?
BTW, how's your rig going?

nice numbers but still shy of Tims! Whats up with that?
Regardless you guys are leaving my 275hp in the dust.

Hi Dave,
My junk is only a little 333 that's trying to be a 'big guy" like Tim's! Not to mention it has no "forged" rotating parts. I want to refrain from splitting that old 5 bolt in half, which could surly happen when approaching 400+ TQ #s.
Beside, this is the first in a series of dyno runs and was to establish a baseline and let Tim know I'm lurking in the shadows? Ha!, HA!:D
Go'in to the Sheehy Show?
What's up with your junk?

Hey Chris,
The Shop is ELD performance of Millersville, MD. They are located just across the RT 97 (20 minutes north of Annapolis) and about 2 miles from my house. They do all types of speed and performance stuff. When I was here, I guy had one of the new camaros that was driven from the showroom to ELD for some serious upgrades. He's hosting a big show on the 25th of July , with cars, bikes, trucks, vendors, girls, food, and independent judging. Like most car show guys, he too, hates the politics that go with judging.
I'm fortunate to have a good performance machine shop within 5 miles, as well.

ELD did the rebuild on my 351 Cleveland when I had my 1970 MACH 1. Brian and his mechanics do a good job. I drove the MACH 1 to 40th anniversary show in Nashiville after the breakin period. The car ran great.
I was wondering when he was going to have his show. I have gone to the show in the past and some interesting cars usually come to this show.

Hi Jim,
Good to hear you had a good experience. This past January, another guy (Jamie Wellmon, a friend of Brian's,) took over the day-to-day operation and, reportedly, very good with our carburetorated cars. But, it appears they retained most of the crew. I haven't talked to Jamie, about this yet, but, I think Brian is more time in with his "PINKS" responsibities.
ELD is hosting a big show on the 25th of July, with cars, bikes, trucks, vendors, music, girls etc. I"m hoping to make this show, I promised him I would make every effort to be there. I have to,first, lineup one of the daughters up to care for my wife. I only live about 2 miles from the shop.
Hope the date works out for you.

Ken,
I have to work the 4th of July and I am on call for the 5th. I won't know if I can make Sheehy until sometime on the 4th. If things work out, I will be at Sheehy on the 5th.

Jim,
This is great news. I hope that you can make it. I did receive your package in the mail.
