I have a 65 gt convertible. i need a parking brake cable. when we remobved the old cable, it was one piece. When trying to find the replacement, everyone says that the rear emergency brake cable is two pieces. The 66's have one piece apparently. Will a 66 cable work on my 65 gt? Where can I go to find the cable?

You can buy the kit for either year from CJ Pony. Is it possible that somewhere during the life of your GT that someone replaced the parking brake cable assembly with a 66 set up? Here's a link to a good article by Mustang Monthly that explains the similarities and differences between the 65 and 66 systems. It also provides a how-to on installation.

You can use either the '65 or the '66 rear parking brake cables. The '65 uses two separate rear cables and the '66 uses a single loop. They each use different equalizer bars.

If your equalizer bar is "U" shaped, then you have the '66 style and just need the one piece cable. If your equalizer bar is "T" shaped, then you have the '65 style and need the 2 piece cables.
