I saw the add for "Pony Express" on Cypress Rd in MD, in the news letter this month. Has anyone had any experience with them. Anyone specific I should ask for? Are they good w/mechanical diagnostics/fixes? Thanks in advance for any input.

The previous post refers to my '66 coupe that I need some diagnostic/mechanical help with.

Are they the ones in Beltsville, MD? They did some work on my last 66 if that's the same place.

Yes, that's the place. What did you think?

Did you use them?

I went there once to check it out and actually got scared away by the appearance of the place.

Maybe its the location (in a god foresaken industrial park), or maybe it the fact it looks like a movie set junk yard, or being impossible to find...but I wasn't impressed. Actually when I saw the place I knew I didn't want them touching my car.

As a Real Estate Developer type I know that Location and Curb Appeal are important factors in choosing where to spend your money. This place has a double wammy.

I think the owner is a member so maybe he will take your advice. I have not been there in years so it sounds like it hasn't changed much. I guess if you compare them to a place like Flemings Ultimate garage you'll be pretty disappointed judged on appearance only. Since Pony & Corral is now gone you can either find parts at Mikes Mustangs or parts & service at Pony Express, otherwise you're going to deal with people whose expertise is not in Mustangs.

I hope the guy sees the post and does something to clean up the place. I grew up in the auto parts business - my dad opened Truck Suppliers in Vienna in 1959, which later became Vienna Auto Parts in 1961, and Auto Parts Co of Vienna in the 70's which later became D and J Auto Supply, then Fairfax Auto parts I think... (Joes Pizza is there now).

Starting at age 9 or so I began delivering parts to all kinds of garages, gas stations, body shops, junk yards, and dealerships....on my bike and later in a Vega panel van...so I've seen my fair share of shops, and shop conditions.

I have nothing against these guys, and they may be the best around, but.....
