I'm a new mustang owner. I won the 1965 convertible raffled off by the Bailey’s Crossroads Rotary Club. I went to register the tags and found out the following.

Cars with Antique tags can only be driven to events and on weekends. This seemed too restrictive to enjoy the occasional after work drive. I went with the normal tags to include higher insurance rates, taxes and annual inspections. I'm interested in everyone's thoughts on this.

Also, this car needs some minor mechanical attention. I live in Arlington and am open to repair shops close to me.

Thanks - Bob

You are NOT limited to pleasure driving whether it's on weeknights or weekends. The only change to the law was to weed out the people that abuse the privledge and use their car every day as a daily driver and do not own any other vehicle. See www.novaccc.org for lots of information on this topic.

If you would like to register your 65 Mustang with year of make tags, I have a nice set of VA 65 tags. You can e-mail me at wkvasnicka@aol.com.

Congrats Bob, and welcome. This club can provide you most of the info you will need to keep your conv in solid condition. WRT your question, if you are looking for a good repair shop, there are a couple club members use in the Woodbridge area, including Springfield Motorsports in Lorton. The answer also depends on whether you plan to use the car as a driver (regular repairs and replacement parts will do) or keep the car in original/show condition (repairs would need to use orig parts and pay attention to originality in things like hoses, clamps, etc.

BTW, just out of curiosity -- did buying one ticket win it for you, or did you buy a bunch?
